Instructions
For optimal results:
- Start with a 25%, 12.5%, or 6.25% resize for the first round of conversion.
- For subsequent resizes, you can use 6.25%, 12.5%, 25%, or 50%.
- Using 50% for the first resize might result in a larger file size than the original.
- The "Download All" button will only download the most recently resized images from the right panel.
- You can choose between JPEG compression, WebP compression, or no compression.
- For JPEG and WebP compression, you can adjust the quality using the slider.
- The downloaded files will keep the original filename with a "_resize" suffix.
Mitchell-Netravali Method
The Mitchell-Netravali method is an advanced image resampling technique that offers superior quality compared to traditional methods like Lanczos or bicubic interpolation. It uses a specially designed cubic filter that balances three important aspects of image quality: sharpness, aliasing, and ringing.
Key advantages of Mitchell-Netravali over regular resizing methods:
- Better preservation of edge details and textures
- Reduced aliasing artifacts, especially in high-contrast areas
- Minimal ringing or halo effects around sharp edges
- Improved overall image clarity and natural appearance
While Lanczos can sometimes produce oversharpening artifacts and bicubic interpolation may result in softness, Mitchell-Netravali strikes an excellent balance, making it particularly well-suited for photographic images and general-purpose resizing tasks.
